Fenix Trophy: Hamburg preview

This week we head to Hamburg in our first ever European competition, the Fenix Trophy. We caught up with staff & players before the trip to get their thoughts on this exciting event.

In group A we will face 3 other teams home & away, the first of which is our hosts on Wednesday evening, HFC Falke - an amazing club built on the idea of playing football for the love of the game, not for riches. We are honored to be visiting them and cannot wait for the Falcons & Raptors match to get underway. In comparison to the hundreds of fans cheering the home side we will have a handful traveling from here and within Germany to support the Raptors - it should be a thrilling spectacle both on and off the pitch for all involved. The game will also be streamed live online so make sure to check out the YouTube channel.

Quotes from staff & players

Director of Football, Kim Grant: "The team has prepared very well. We've shown great form in the league so far, and we go into the Fenix Trophy with belief, confidence and excitement. Everyone associated and involved with the club has been looking forward to this historic event and we are delighted to be part of it.

It will be a fantastic experience for the both management & the players especially being the first match of the Fenix Trophy, and I'm very sure we will give a very good account of ourselves."

Captain, Jan Chvojan: "We are all buzzing to play the very first game of the Fenix Trophy. It’s something we have been looking forward to since the competition was announced. Apart from the obvious excitement about the match, I think we will benefit from spending some time on the road - it will be a great opportunity to build camaraderie among the team."

Attacking Midfielder, Pelson Pfavayi: "The lads are looking mentally and physically fit to take on the the opponent in Germany and of course Falke is a good team and we expecting a big challenge on their home turf."

New signing, Joshua Harris-James: "As a team we’ve been working really hard and it’s shows with the form we are in, I think myself and everyone involved are looking forward to showing what we can do and what the club is all about on the big stage and I expect us to be a seriously hard battle for every side we face in the Fenix trophy."
