Lucie Martínková joins Prague Raptors as Women's Head Coach!

Today we can proudly break the news about our exciting new-look Women’s A coaching team following the capture of Lucie Martínková & promotions of Wojtek Karwinski, Francisco Samagaio & Jan Kozel.

Lucie has taken over the Head Coach role following Luis Pereira’s departure at the end of last season - bringing with her a wealth of experience from both the playing and coaching side of Czech football. The Sparta Prague legend has already spent several weeks with the team and is now in the stage of finalising plans with Wojtek, Francisco & Jan ready for the big kick-off.

Wojtek & Francisco have worked with the Raptors over previous seasons and it is great for us as a club to see their progress and evolution into their new roles assisting Lucie in training and matchdays. Jan will be continuing his work with the Academy, under the new title of ‘Technical Director’ whilst also expanding his responsibilities to become the Director of Women’s football. Kim Grant (Club Director of Football and Men’s Head Coach) will continue to be involved from a strategic point of view, reporting to COO Petra Moss & President Daz Moss.

Lucie Martínková

Position: Women’s A team head coach

Football has been Lucie Martínková's passion since childhood. During her playing career, she had the honor of wearing the Czech national team jersey in more than 120 matches and for many years she played at AC Sparta Prague, with whom she won a number of championship titles and cup victories. Football also took Lucie abroad - she played in Sweden, where she learned about a modern approach to training and working with players.

Already during her active playing career, she decided to pass on her experience and embarked on a coaching path.

Lucie believes in team cohesion, individual development of players and a modern concept of the game. For her, football is not only about results, but also about the joy of the game, cohesion, mutual support, team spirit. That is how the greatest successes are born.

Lucie says:

“I come to Prague Raptors with great enthusiasm and a vision to build a strong and confident team that will compete with the best and at the same time inspire young female footballers to fulfill their dreams.”

Wojtek Karwinski

Position: Women’s A Team Assistant Coach

Wojtek is from Poland where he picked up his first coaching experience in the Escola Varsovia football club academy.

He then moved to Prague to study coaching with focus on football at the Charles University (FTVS) and joined the Raptors academy where he coached U11, U13, U15 and U17 boys categories through the years.

As part of preparation for his UEFA A licence Wojtek did an internship at Sparta boy’s academy where he learnt valuable skills and continues to help out there still.

Wojtek has an undeniable passion for football and coaching and in the 2nd half of last season he joined the women’s team coaching team and brought valuable expertise and experience into training sessions and games.

Wojtek says:

“I’m really excited about the upcoming season. The preparation so far has been really good and the players have worked really hard on the pitch. With the addition of several new members of the coaching staff and new players to an already good quality team it really makes me believe that we will achieve something.”

Francisco Samagaio

Position: Women’s A Team Assistant Coach & Team Analyst

Francisco, originally from Portugal has experience across both youth and senior football in the Czech Republic.

Previously he contributed to the Raptors as the women’s team analyst and as a coach in the academy alongside Wojciech.

Most recently, Francisco led men’s team Galaksia Praha to the club’s first-ever league title — going unbeaten and achieving the best defensive record in the competition.

He also works as a scout across the top divisions of Czech football — both men’s and women’s — including teams in the men’s second league.

Francisco says:

“It’s very rewarding to be back working with this talented group in such an ambitious and challenging project. The chance to reunite with Wojtek, surrounded by people I can learn from every day, made the decision easy. This club is special — it gives people real opportunities to grow and show their value. My goal is to keep improving with each session and help the team reach everything we’re aiming for.”

Jan Kozel

Position: Director of Women’s football

Jan joined Prague Raptors as Head of Academy in December 2024. He has extensive experience in coaching in Czech teams like SK Aritma, FK Viktoria Žižkov or FK Motorlet. He also broadened his skills abroad in Portsmouth FC or Preston North End FC in England.

Jan also works as youth regional coach for FAČR and is part of the Czech national project coaches in schools.

In Prague Raptors his responsibilities lie in the academy helping with the organisation and effectiveness as well as building valuable connections outside of the club with different football teams and FAČR. Recently, Jan has been more involved also in the women’s side of the club and took on the role of Director of Women’s football and is part of the club's efforts to prepare the women’s A team for the new season.

Jan says:

“I look forward to another season with the Raptors and the projects we want to start with or develop together. The position of Technical Director and Director of Women's Football involves a lot of planning and setting the path we want to take. We are all aware of the position of this unique club on the Czech football map and what its short and long term goals are. Players and staff know that if they will do everything for the club, then the club will do everything for them. My main motto is: “Do everything you can - and whatever happens - happens.” I think as long as you stick to this and everybody gives 100%, then at the end of the day, even if you don't succeed, you say - OK, but I did everything I could. I hope that the women's, men's and academy teams will have a 2025/26 season to remember”.

Dnes můžeme s hrdostí oznámit skvělou novinku o našem novém, atraktivním složení trenérského týmu ženského A-týmu. Příchod Lucie Martínkové a povýšení Wojtka Karwinského, Francisca Samagaia a Jana Kozla přináší velké změny do naší struktury příprav na sezónu a posunuje naše snahy v boji o postup na novou úroveň.

Lucie přebírá roli hlavní trenérky po odchodu Luise Pereiry na konci minulé sezóny. Do klubu s sebou přináší bohaté zkušenosti jak z hráčské, tak i z trenérské stránky českého fotbalu. Legenda Sparty Praha již strávila s týmem několik týdnů a vedla letní přípravu. Nyní je spolu s Wojtkem, Franciscem a Janem ve fázi dokončování plánů pro nadcházející sezónu.

Wojtek a Francisco pracovali s Raptors v předchozích sezónách a pro nás jako klub je skvělé sledovat jejich pokrok a vývoj v nových rolích, kdy budou pomáhat Lucii s tréninky, zápasy a vedením týmu. Jan bude pokračovat ve své práci v akademii v nové pozici „technického ředitele“ a zároveň rozšíří své povinnosti a stane se vedoucím ženského úseku. Kim Grant (fotbalový ředitel klubu a hlavní trenér mužského týmu) se bude i nadále angažovat ze strategického hlediska pod vedením provozní ředitelky Petry Moss a prezidenta Daze Moss.

Lucie Martínková

Pozice: Hlavní trenérka ženského A týmu

Fotbal je pro Lucii Martínkovou už od dětství životní vášní. Během své hráčské kariéry měla tu čest obléknout reprezentační dres ve více než 120-ti zápasech a mnoho let působila v AC Sparta Praha, se kterou získala řadu mistrovských titulů a pohárových vítězství. Fotbal Lucii zavedl i do zahraničí – hrála ve Švédsku, kde poznala moderní přístup k tréninku a práci s hráčkami.

Už během své aktivní hráčské kariéry se rozhodla předávat své zkušenosti dál a vydala se na trenérskou cestu.

Lucie věří v týmovou soudržnost, individuální rozvoj hráček a moderní herní pojetí. Fotbal pro ni není jen o výsledcích, ale také o radosti ze hry, soudržnosti, vzájemné podpoře, týmovém duchu kdy právě tehdy se rodí ty největší úspěchy.

Lucie říká:

“Do Prague Raptors přicházím s velkým nadšením a vizí vybudovat silný a sebevědomý tým, který bude konkurovat nejlepším a zároveň inspirovat mladé fotbalistky k tomu, aby si plnily své sny.”

Wojtek Karwinski

Pozice: Asistent trenérky ženského A týmu

Wojtek pochází z Polska, kde získal své první trenérské zkušenosti v akademii fotbalového klubu Escola Varsovia.

Poté se přestěhoval do Prahy, kde studoval trenérství se zaměřením na fotbal na Univerzitě Karlově (FTVS), a připojil se k akademii Raptors, kde v průběhu let trénoval chlapecké kategorie U11, U13, U15 a U17 a byl velkou součástí chodu a úspěchů celé akademie.

V rámci přípravy na licenci UEFA A absolvoval Wojtek stáž v chlapecké akademii Sparty, kde se naučil cenné dovednosti a dodnes tam pomáhá.

Wojtek má nepopiratelnou vášeň pro fotbal a trénování a v druhé polovině minulé sezóny se připojil k trenérskému týmu ženského týmu a do tréninků i zápasů přinesl cenné odborné znalosti a zkušenosti.

Wojtek říká:

“Jsem opravdu nadšený z nadcházející sezóny. Příprava byla zatím skvělá a hráčky na hřišti opravdu tvrdě pracují. S příchodem několika nových členů trenérského týmu a nových hráček do již tak kvalitního týmu jsem opravdu přesvědčen, že dosáhneme svých cílů.”

Francisco Samagaio

Pozice: Asistent trenérky ženského A týmu a analytik

Francisco, původem z Portugalska, má zkušenosti s mládežnickým i seniorským fotbalem v České republice.

Dříve působil v Raptors jako analytik ženského týmu a jako trenér v akademii po boku Wojciecha.

Naposledy Francisco dovedl mužský tým Galaksia Praha k prvnímu ligovému titulu v historii klubu – bez porážky a s nejlepším obranným rekordem v soutěži.

Pracuje také jako skaut napříč nejvyššími divizemi českého fotbalu – mužskými i ženskými – včetně týmů v druhé mužské lize.

Francisco říká:

“Je velmi obohacující znovu pracovat s touto talentovanou skupinou lidí na tak ambiciózním a náročném projektu. Šance znovu se setkat s Wojtkem, obklopen lidmi, od kterých se mohu každý den učit, mi mé rozhodnutí usnadnilo. Tento klub je výjimečný – dává lidem skutečné příležitosti k růstu a ukázání jejich hodnoty. Mým cílem je se s každým tréninkem neustále zlepšovat a pomáhat týmu dosáhnout všeho, o co usilujeme.“

Jan Kozel

Pozice: Manager ženského úseku

Jan nastoupil do Prague Raptors jako vedoucí akademie v prosinci 2024. Má rozsáhlé zkušenosti s trénováním v českých týmech jako SK Aritma, FK Viktoria Žižkov nebo FK Motorlet. Své dovednosti si rozšířil i v zahraničí v Portsmouth FC nebo Preston North End FC v Anglii.

Jan také pracuje jako regionální trenér mládeže pro FAČR a je součástí českého národního projektu trenéři ve školách.

V Prague Raptors má na starosti pomoc s organizací a efektivitou akademie a budování cenných kontaktů mimo klub s různými fotbalovými týmy a FAČR. Nově se Jan více angažuje i v ženské části klubu, ujal se role ředitele ženského fotbalu a je součástí klubového úsilí o přípravu ženského A-týmu na novou sezónu.

Jan říká:

“Těším se na další sezónu s Raptors a na projekty, které chceme společně začít nebo rozvíjet. Pozice technického ředitele a ředitele ženského fotbalu zahrnuje hodně plánování a stanovování cesty, kterou se chceme vydat. Všichni si uvědomujeme postavení tohoto jedinečného klubu na mapě českého fotbalu a jeho krátkodobé i dlouhodobé cíle. Hráči i zaměstnanci vědí, že pokud udělají vše pro klub, pak klub udělá vše pro ně. Moje hlavní motto je: „Dělej, co můžeš – a co se má stát se stane.“ Myslím, že pokud se toho budou všichni držet a dají do toho 100 %, pak na konci dne, i když se nedaří, si řekneme – dobře, ale udělali jsme všechno, co jsme mohli. Doufám, že ženský i mužský tým a akademie zažijí nezapomenutelnou sezónu 2025/26”.
